Inspired by earlier games in the Donkey Kong Country series, Donkey Kong Country Returns Donkey Kong Country Returns is a new take on a beloved Nintendo franchise. The first Donkey Kong Country game developed for play for Wii, this new iteration blends familiar actions, levels and characters with a whole new graphical treatment and feel, as well as new control schemes and play options. Features include: a co-op play option allowing you to team up as Donkey Kong and Diddy, radically different visuals ranging from nearly 3D treatment to others that appear in silhouette, two different controller schemes and more.

Features:
  • Dual control schemes including the Wi Remote/Nunchuk, as well as a sideways oriented Wii Remote
  • The game offers the traditional side-scrolling experience everyone loved, but also levels created in fully rendered 3D environments
  • New silhouetted level s add additional challenges as players work to time movements and attacks
  • For the first time ever, the franchise features the ability for two people to play together at the same time - one as Donkey Kong, one as Diddy Kong
  • Hidden items, puzzle pieces and other surprises are found all through the jungle; spell out K-O-N-G by the end of each level to earn an extra bonus
Cheats:
Infinite DK Coins
Note: You need Diddy for this cheat. Look for the first checkpoint in World 2-2 (Sloppy Sands). Here you can find two squid cannons underneath a bridge. Hit JUMP and UP to bounce from the lower squid to the higher squid. Hit the squid and drop to the lower squid again. Keep bouncing between them for infinite DK Coins.

Unlockables:
Time Trails "Shining" Gold Medal
As you know, there are 3 medal for Time Trails, the Bronze medal, the Silver medal, and the Gold medal, if you beat the Gold medal in a several seconds, a new medal will appear (the Shining Gold medal), you have to look closely to see a difference between the Gold medal and the Shining Gold medal.

200% Completion Images
Beat the main game and collect every KONG letter and puzzle piece, then do it all over again in Mirror Mode to complete the game at 200%. For doing this you'll unlock 8 images for the gallery:
  • Petroglyph
  • Mole Carts
  • Steamy Adventure
  • Volcanic Ascension
  • Temple Entrance
  • Temple Exterior
  • Tiki Extremes
  • Tiki Tong Storyboard

Yep, THAT'S IT!

Music
Enter the Extras Menu to peruse the game's music files. You can unlock files by performing the following actions.
  • Beach Music - Beat the boss of the Beach section without Super Guide
  • Cave Music - Beat the boss of the Cave section without Super Guide
  • Cliff Music - Beat the boss of the Cliff section without Super Guide
  • Factory Music - Beat the boss of the Factory section without Super Guide

Mirror Mode
Beat the Golden Temple (World 9) to unlock Mirror Mode. In this mode, every level is reversed and you move from right to left. You have only one chance and you won't be able to use inventory items or Diddy. Good luck with that.

World 9, The Golden Temple
In every level except for boss levels there are letters to collect that spell out K-O-N-G. Collect the KONG letters in every level in a World to unlock a bonus level. Beat the bonus level and you'll get a Rare Orb. There are 8 Rare Orbs to collect, one in the bonus level of each World. Once you have them all, the path to World 9 via The Golden Temple will be unlocked.

Hints:
Do Feed the Animals
You'll need to play as Diddy Kong (with a second controller) in either World 1-B or 7-B to pull this trick off. When fighting Mugly or Thugly, the rhino-like bosses, they'll usually try to attack by charging at you and swallowing you. Stand at one end of the stage away from Mugly or Thugly and shoot peanuts directly at the boss or specifically when their mouths are open (this is most of the time so you can just shoot continuously). If you get enough peanuts into their mouth they will pause to eat munch them, openly revealing the weak spot on their back. This gives you the perfect opportunity to attack them. You can also keep shooting to increase the time they stop and eat and let Donkey Kong attack them for you.

How to Punch the Bosses and Barrels
At the end of levels, when you collect your prize from the barrel, look for the SHAKE icon to appear and shake your Wii Remote to get in multiple "hits." You'll get more goodies for each punch. YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE SHAKE ICON TO APPEAR -- IF YOU SHAKE EARLY YOU WILL CANCEL THE BONUS. You can also use this to punch bosses at the very end a boss fight (for no bonus, just for fun). If you shake the Wii Remote early it won't work.

Low Battery Bonus
As you choose your save file, Cranky will give you 3 1-Ups if you have a low battery charge. He'll give you 5 1-Ups for no reason occasionally as well.

Roll Recovery
Ever notice a KONG letter hanging precariously off the edge of a cliff? You can grab these by pulling off the tough Roll Recovery move. Roll off the edge of the cliff and jump at the last second to reach a safe ledge above. This takes good timing and isn't easy to master, but it's the only way to get certain collectibles!

Easter Eggs:
Mr. Game & Watch
In World 7-1 (Foggy Fumes), keep an eye on the background and you'll see Mr. Game & Watch, from Game & Watch titles and Smash Bros., hammering some pipes.

Metroid References
In the silhouette level (World 7-1) of the Factory area you can see Ridley's head formed from factory equipment in the background.

In World 6-1, look out for a trio of scorpion-like fossils in the wall. These resemble parasites or Leviathan Infants from Metroid.

TV and Radio Antics
At the very start of World 1-1 enter the tree house tree house go to the tv. Shake your Wii Remote and you should see the title screen appear on it

The radio seems to be playing a variation on the Super Mario Bros. underground theme as well.

Billy Mitchell's Tie
On World 3-2, one of the decorative carvings in the temple ruins is a tie with the American flag printed on it. This is a reference to Billy Mitchell's famous USA tie. Mitchell is a frequent Donkey Kong high score record holder.

Other decorations on the temples in World 3 have original Donkey Kong graphics.

Donkey Kong's DS
Leave the Wii Remote untouched for about 30 seconds and Donkey Kong will take out his DS and start playing it.

Hints:
Last Second Menu
At the last second before a cutscene ends (and leads into a boss battle), press the MENU BUTTON and you'll be sent to the Menu Screen. (This is useful if you forgot to change weapons, switch paradigms, etc.)

Snow's "Perfect Defense" state
With an advanced party, it is possible for Snow to enter a "perfect defense" state. Equip him with his Winged Saint weapon or save the queen upgrade (for the improved Guard II ability); your three active party members must have reached Role level 5 as Sentinels. Paradigm Shift to Tortoise (SEN + SEN + SEN), and have snow preform Steelguard or Mediguard. Any attack aimed at him during that time will inflict only 1% damage or less.

Upgrading Tips
Study Bones / Ooze / Tail are the three 80gil items which take 36 to equal a 3x multiplier. So, 2880 gil gets you 3x. If you're a Gil pincher - save money and wait until you can upgrade an item to max level in one shot - save the investment to a one time shot at multiplier. Furthermore, you won't need to level up any weapons until you're at a point you should be able to afford the expense.

If you would rather just play and level up - do that - don't worry about the gil it costs you - just have fun and be happy.

While Fluids and Oils may give more EXP, they're a waste since the inorganic items are so much better - you are better offf getting to 3x as soon as possible, and then switching to inorganic.

For farmable scenes (like chapter 11) - nothing beats the bomb parts. I had nearly a two full stacks of bomb things from Marks and used them to level up most of the accessories required so I could unlock 'em all for the treasure hunter achievement/trophy.

CP Farming in Chapter 11
There are two good places to level up your Crystarium when you come into the Archelyte Steppe in the beginning of Ch. 11. The first one can be found in the Southwest Corner of the main map, the Western Benchland. South of the pond, there is a peninsula where little birdlike characters mass around. At first this seems like an intimidating battle, considering that the enemies will summon characters making the battles very long. However, this can be remedied, if you have 3 of the following four characters: Lightning, Fang, Snow, and Sazh. You'll only really need the following paradigms: Commando x3 / Commando x2+Ravager / Commando x2+Medic / Sentinel+Commando+Medic / Sentinel+Medicx2. Set the base mode on Commando x3 and go into battle.

If you're able to get behind them it makes the battles all that much easier. Once you get the hang of things, you'll learn their pattern and be able to get them more often than not in a surprise attack. Have your leader, whomever you choose to have it attack with Ruinaga, followed by blitz. The Ruinaga will toss them into the air a tiny bit and hit multiple targets in a wide radius. The blitz should hit the same amount of people. Your support characters should attack with Blitz, Blitz, and then standard attack. The Ruinaga spell is important because it keeps the baddies from being able to mass a constant attack on you as well as keeping them unable to summon whoever they are going to bring into the battle. CP ranges from 2000 to 3500 for your 35-45 seconds of effort. If you're having a hard time, try Commando x2 + Ravager, and you may be able to juggle them a little, but the commandos really shred HP in this fight.

The second method should be undertaken when you've gotten more HP and strength, since the fights will be harder. North of the first point, there is a place where the big wolf and a behemoth are fighting. Hit them. Concentrate first on the Behemoth and take him out. Don't kill the wolf, since he's your buffer from being behemoth's lunch. Take them out, 6000+CP. Then turn around, jump down to the west and take out the 3 groups of wolfs for 2000-3000 CP. Repeat this and you'll have tons of CP in no time.

CP Farming in Chapter 8
Right at the clocktower in the park, you'll find a chest with five of those little robots running around it. You can beat them up for 640 cp and loop back to the prior chest area (with one of the monsters) and the group of five will respawn.

CP Farming in Chapters 8 and 9
Here are a couple really solid CP grinding areas in Chapters 8 and 9.

The first spot is right after the attack on Hope's home in Parumpolum in Chapter 8. There are two sets of soldiers who will keep respawning inside the house endlessly. All you have to do is run down the halls a bit and they come right back and they will be there again. Defeating them yields a good amount of CP, and they drop incentive chips which you can sell for 2,500 and buy upgrade parts for your weapons.

I maxed out all my players and upgraded Lightning's weapon from level 16-22 in only 40 minutes of fighting.

The second spot when you're going to rescue Sazh and Vanille in Chapter 9. After you finish the outside fighting portion on the flagship you head inside; in there you get a "green alert" warning the enemy to your presence. Instead of proceeding further, go back outside and you will see that the enemies have respawned.

In fact, just right outside the door you will get into a battle with five enemies which nets you over 700 CP each time as well as dropping Silicon Oil plus incentive and credit chips. After each fight, head back inside around two corners to respawn the enemy. Do this as many times as you want and head inside to the save point to sell the chips and upgrade your weapons and you'll get everyone to level 3 of all their roles in no time.

I prefer these two places becuase of the incentive chips.

Super Weapon Exploit
Each character has one super weapon that can be obtained by fully upgrading one of his/her stock weapons.

Each player has seven stock weapons but the final result after maximum upgrades yields the same super weapon.

Upgrading is done through the shop at save points. There are two parts to upgrading:

(1) Spamming items which give a low amount of EXP to increase multipliers, and (2) Using items which give a lot of EXP, and that now give even more EXP due to your multiplier, to upgrade your weapon substantially.

An efficient way to build the multiplier is to go to the Creature Comforts store and buy Vibrant Ooze. Apply 36 of those to your weapon and you will have a 3x multiplier. Then you can apply Perfect Conductor for 2577 EXP.

Easter Eggs:
Final Fantasy III Reference
The city Nautilus refers to the submarine The Nautilus in Final Fantasy III.

Final Fantasy IX Reference
The ship the Lindblum refers to Lindblum Castle from Final Fantasy IX.

Final Fantasy IV Reference
The city Palumpolum is actually a reference to Final Fantasy IV's two magic using children named Palum and Porum.

Hoppin' Mad
Whenever you have control of your character outside of battle, move the analog stick left and right quickly. Do this enough (6 or so times) and your character will come to an abrupt stop and emote -- expressing anger or fatigue.

Drain Blast Core Energy
When you first meet up with Kuo, after she's become a full-fledged Conduit, and you are looking for the Blast Core in the graveyard/mausoleum area, when you get to the actual hiding place for the Core, you can press and hold L2 and drain energy out of it before it is even out of the casket. This is useful for healing and energy when you fight the giant swamp bug thing.

Electric Drain While In Motion
It is in fact possible to recharge while Induction Grinding. You can even recharge while on the Vertical Launch Pole. Its a bit harder to recharge while grinding. You can only do this on the train tracks or on the Street Car wires.

During Grind: Hop up on a wire or track and start using powers (Grenades or something). You got to have used a lot of battery power, about half of them used. Then press L2 button, when near something to drain, like a lamppost or just the post that holds the wires. When done correctly, the electricity will steam up to Cole's body for quite a distance.

On the Vertical Launch Pole: Just jump on and press L2 to recharge. You will not get much, but its a little. (Does not work on the Launch Poles on the gas towers in Gas Works)

Easter Eggs:
Zeke and the Thievius Raccoonus
In one of the cut scenes you approach Zeke reading a book. If you can spot the title you can see he's reading 'Thievius Raccoonus.' This is a reference to the Sucker Punch game Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus.

Red Ring Zinger
In New Marais there is a store called Red Ring electronics repair, with a flashing red neon sign that resembles a dead Xbox 360 light. Zing!

Video Game References on Theater Signs
On the Hush Theater in New Marais, the movie board has some titles. The titles are all parodies of real video games.
  • Assassin's Need is a parody of the Assassin's Creed series.

Set it, then start it to satisfy this Trophy condition. (Note: Tempt_Not_the_Blade claims the difficulty must be set as soon as the menu can be brought up at the very beginning of the game.

The player MUST WAIT until credits have finished rolling and 'Congratulations' screen appears to meet requirements. Wait a few seconds and the Trophy will be awarded.

Cheats:
Infinite Gold (Post Patch)
You need to controllers to do this trick and it works even with the latest update.

1. First, start up your file and start a second character with a non-live profile with the second controller.

2. Give the second character a gift of large amount of gold -- 100,000 is the most you can give.

3. Go into the sSanctuary with your second character.

4. Go to the gift and reject it, and as fast as you can hit the Xbox Guide button and sign out. If you did it correctly, when you sign back in with your second character then they should still have the gift and the first player will have one as well.

Repeat this trick as many times as you like.

Infinite Gold (Post-Patch)
An update disables the previous cheat. However, there is a way to get around this!

WARNING: This method involves clearing the Xbox system cache. This will remove all update patches for every game on your HDD (not dashboard updates). The chances of this messing up your system or game saves are pretty much non-existant, however please be aware that you will need to re-download any game updates the next time you play them.

You will need two controllers for this method - online co-op players are not an option. Oh, and you'll need a good hour or more, this takes a while...

1. Go to your Xbox Dashboard, sign out of your gamer profile, and create two new gamer profiles. (Any profiles on your Xbox which are not Live enabled will also work)

2. Sign into one of these new profiles and go to System Settings - Memory. Highlight your HDD and press Y - Clear System Cache - Yes.

3. Start Fable 3, and play through until your new character reaches the Dweller Camp. (You can skip some cutscenes by pressing Start, and remember that your story decisions don't matter with this character). Once you have bought the Dweller Outfit, you are able to visit the Sanctuary and transfer money between players.

4. Sign into the 2nd new profile with controller 2, and press Start to join the game.

5. Using Controller 1, approach Controller 2's character and press LB to send gifts. You will enter the Sanctuary.

6. A blue bag will appear the right of your main character. Place all of your main character's money to the blue bag and exit the Sanctuary.

7. On Controller 2, press START to go to the Sanctuary. Approach the gift bag and check it, but choose REJECT.

8. Press START to leave the Sanctuary and press DOWN on the D-Pad while facing your main character to exit the game and press START again to return.

9. Switch to Controller 1 and check the gift pedestal for a duplicate of your Gold.

10. Repeat Steps 3-8 to amass a fortune.

Note: Only continue past this point once you're sure you've gained enough money, as Controller 1's character will be unusable after the next few steps.

11. Save the game from Controller 1's Sanctuary, and quit to the Dashboard.

12. Sign back into your normal profile, start Fable 3 (accepting the Live update, or your save won't work) and load up your main character.

13. Press the guide button on Controller 2, sign out of the 2nd new profile, and sign back in as the first - the one with all of the cash!

14. Press Start on Controller 2 to join the game, accept the save file update (or you won't be able to gift anything), and press LB in front of your main character to enter the gift room. Now you can transfer all of your ill-gotten gains to your main character 100k at a time! Spend it wisely!

Tip: 1,000,000 should take about an hour from start to finish, obviously longer if you want to transfer more.

Tip: Accept all of the gifts into the 2nd new profile's bank in the normal way and transfer it back to the 1st new profile once the 1st had accrued over 100,000g, as this clears the gift "history" of all low-value gift boxes, and starts them again at 100,000g each.

Infinite Gold
[UNCONFIRMED] PHYSICALLY DISCONNECT FROM XBOX LIVE FIRST. To get as much Gold as you need, simply purchase some land and upgrade it to 100% and then save and exit the game. Go to your Xbox settings and set the date forward as far as you can (e.g. 1/1/9999). Start the game again and save. Remember to save if you wish to keep repeating this -- if you don't save, you won't save the money you've earned (since you get money over time).

You can also do this by buying and renting out property. Change the game clock and reap the benefits.

Unlockables:
Tattoo Dye
Collect all 30 Auroran flowers and you'll be able to dye your tattoos (Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green, or Purple) anytime you want at the temple in Aurora.

Hints:
Transfer Your Stuff to a New Character
Since the update, you can no longer use a certain duplication glitch. However, you can create a second Gamertag, use a second controller to make a new character appear in your main file (Just press START), and then GIFT all your weapons, clothes, money to the new character. Now, use that character to gift all that stuff to your brand new one. It will take a while, but you get to pass on your leveled-up weapons (Except Hero Sword/Hammer/Rifle/Pistol)and all those Legendary weapons you might have not gotten this time around.

Gold Key Door Locations
Gold Keys can be used to open Gold Key Doors. These doors, scattered throughout Albion, each require one amount of Gold Key to open. Treasure can be found on the other side. Collecting all Silver and Gold Keys will also land you the I Am The Keymaster Achievement. Any key can be used for any door, so choose wisely! A special fifth Gold Key can be found in the Sanctuary, scroll to the bottom of the page to learn about this super-secret key and its special chest.

Gold Key Door 1

On your way down the path in the Catacombs under Bowerstone Castle (which you traverse in the very beginning of the game), you may notice a Gold Door -- you need a Gold Key to open it, and so you'll have to return much alter when you have access to the castle AND a key. Inside you'll find 30 Guild Seals.

Gold Key Door 2

In the Sunset House area, enter the main gate and take a right as soon as you set foot on the lawn. A winding path leads back to the Gold Key Door here. It's directly across from the gazebo. Inside this Gold Key Door you'll find a Legendary Weapon (we found the Hammer of Wilmageddon).

Gold Key Door 3

In Mourningwood you can access the Ossuary through a door in the graveyard after completing two side quests: Bored to Death and Gone but Not Forgotten (which involve Sam, Max and the Normanomicon). In the Ossuary, turn left just as you enter to find the Gold Door. Beyond it is a sarcophagus you can open for a Legendary Weapon.

Gold Key Door 4

In the Reliquary under the Academy in Brightwall Village you can find a well-hidden Gold Key Door. To get to it, you'll need to complete the Special Delivery (Dweller Camp) and The Ancient Key (Academy) Side Quests. In the latter Side Quest you can lead Saul to a secret library in the Reliquary. Here you can make out a Flit Switch on the wall -- it takes four shots from a firearm to activate it. Head up the stairs and through the door on the left. Here is a melee Flit Switch you can smack. It will float down below so vault off the edge and smack it again. After taking on the wave of Hollow Men, stairs and platforms will align to lead to the Gold Key Door. There are five chests in the area beyond called The Prism with the various pieces of the complete Highway Man Costume.

The Special Gold Key and Chest in the Sanctuary
Once you are the Ruler of Albion, enter the treasure room in The Sanctuary (your pause menu) and look up and you should be able to spot a Gold Key. To reach it, you'll need to make some 5,000,000 Gold. The Scrooge McDuck-like pile will lift you to the key. One way to do this is to buy shops early and often to start turning a profit. High-priced shops turn higher profits. You can get a cool million from the Sunset House Demon Door as well. A special chest to match this key lies at the very bottom of your Gold hoard. To reach it once you have the key, transfer ALL of your funds to the Albion Treasury. This will take 5 transactions of 1 million Gold. Now, return to the Sanctuary and open the chest for a Legendary Weapon.

Demon Doors
There are six Demon Doors in the game. You must perform certain actions to convince them to open and reveal a secret area with some awesome treasure; here's how:

Mistpeak Valley Demon Door

This stone edifice seeks inspiration for a tale of Heroes.

Note: This door requires a cooperative second player in an online game. In Mistpeak Valley, head uphill from the lake towards the snowy area with bridges crisscrossing the frozen valley. Following the path under the first bridge that leads into the valley. This path terminates at the Mistpeak Valley Demon Door. This Demon Door requires you to Hug, Kiss and possibly Propose, so you and your co-op partner must have the Lover Expression Pack from the Road to Rule. Perform these actions in front of the door by holding A until the contorller vibrates. If this doesn't work, you'll need to propose. When one character proposes to the other, go through the motions and marry each other and the door will open. The "Demon Door Retirement Home" features many strange Demon Doors to listen to and a Legendary Weapon in the lone chest. Only the host will get the Legendary Weapon (we received the "Very Sharp Scissors" melee weapon). You should be gracious and give it as a gift to your new spouse!

Brightwall Village Demon Door

This ancient doorway is feeling rather broody.

You need only show up in front of this Demon Door with a child -- sounds easy right? Well, there's a catch: it has to be your OWN child. This is because your child is the only child you can hold hands with and, consequently, drag to the Demon Door for the Door's approval. To have a child, you must have the Family and Lover Expression Packs from the Road to Rule. Propose to a potential mate (of the opposite sex -- since you need to make a child), fulfill he or she's marriage requirements, purchase a house and have "Unsafe" sex by activating the Sleep icon at the bed your house and choosing to do so. After this you will have an infant child. Wait a bit for the child to become a toddler and you can then take it to the Demon Door. Alternately, you may adopt a child from the Bowerstone Orphanage. You must beat the Bowerstone Resistance quest first. Inside the Demon Door you'll find 25 Guild Seals and 3 Summon Creature Potions in the "Last Orders" area.

Sunset House Demon Door

An ancient and sentient door near Sunset House wants to meet a monarch.

Return as Queen (or King) of Albion to access this Demon Door -- this will happen as part of the main quest you progress through the game. You can just walk right in and claim your 1,000,000 Gold prize in the "Pools of Sorrow" area.

Mourningwood Demon Door

This ancient and war-weary edifice is quite interested in weaponry.

You must max out your Melee or Ranged weapon skills (purchase Level 5 on the Road to Rule) AND get all three upgrades for a Legendary Weapon to access this Demon Door. While you can purchase Level 5 for 100 Guild Seals on the Road to Rule, you'll have to do some work to upgrade your Legendary Weapon of choice. Any Legendary Weapon (NOT your Hero weapons) has three upgrades that you can read about by pressing Y in the Sanctuary while examing the weapon. After getting your weapon preppep, you need only to pull it out in front of the Demon Door for it to open. Inside is an awesome space-scape called Planet One. Here you can get the Military Costume and a Summon Creatures Potion.

Millfields Demon Door

This stone portal questions the value of traditionally held notions of aesthetics.

This door requires you to be fat and ugly -- impossible, right? Well, to impress this picky door you need only slap on an outfit (your pajamas or night clothes from the very beginning of the game are ideal) and color each item in the outfit a different hue. You can do this in the Sanctuary. There's still the matter of corpulence, however. Check out your Hero Status in the Sanctuary to see your weight. You need to get this meter all the way to the right. To gain weight you can eat pies and meat bought from vendors in Bowerstone OR drink beer at the pub. After you are fat, multicolored and dressed to unimpress, the Demon Door will give way to "Twitcher's Curtains," where you can find a chest with 40 Guild Seals.

City of Aurora Demon Door

This stone portal questions the value of traditionally held notions of aesthetics.

Note: You can only access this Demon Door after the Revolution due to rubble blocking it. It's just to the left of the main gate -- you can't miss it as you head to the Shifting Sands. For this door to open you'll have to max out your morality and be totally evil or completely good. This takes an entire game to accomplish, since moral choices to kill, rob, break promises and do other bad things occur often. At the end of the game you can give to the Treasury or rob it to help tilt your morality meter the proper direction. In the Moral View you'll see a different scene depending on your choice, but the reward will be the same: a Legendary Weapon.

Gold Key Locations
Gold Keys can be used to open Gold Key Doors. These doors, scattered throughout Albion, each require one amount of Gold Key to open. Treasure can be found on the other side. Collecting all Silver and Gold Keys will also land you the I Am The Keymaster Achievement. Any key can be used for any door, so choose wisely! A special fifth Gold Key can be found in the Sanctuary, scroll to the bottom of the page to learn about this super-secret key and its special chest.

Gold Key (Mistpeak Valley 1/1)

If you examine the map of Mistpeak Valley, you can make out two caves entrances above the Demon Door and one on the far side of the level up in the hills. Travel to the latter cave -- you can get there by running uphill from the lake and hanging a left just before the path to Brightwall Village. You can follow a grassy ridge past a treasure chest to find this cave entrance to Chillbreath Cavern -- it is not an icy entrance, it is a thawed, brownish cave entrance. Run through this cave and take the path leading upwards. You should pass a 15 Silver Key chest on the way amongst various other Dig Spots and chests. Keep heading uphill and eventually you'll come to an exit at the very top. Once outside again, run down the short hill and you'll find the Gold Key floating amongst some ruins.

Gold Key (Driftwood 1/1)

Driftwood is an area that you can access after completing the "Restoration" Side Quest in Millfields (pay 750 Gold to repair the bridge). In Driftwood, complete three Side Quests to help reach the coastal islands: An Island Getaway, Pest Control and Giftwood for Driftwood. After this, leave and return to the area and you can reach a Flit Switch on an island across the new bridge. Now you can follow the Flit Switch around the area and hit it with you melee and ranged weapons. Climb the mountain in pursuit of the switch. A warp zone at the top will take you to the Gold Key.

Gold Key (The Veiled Path [Aurora], 1/1)

At the staircase at the far end of The Veiled Path is the entrance to an area called The Enigma. Don't let the small area fool you, there's more to The Enigma -- look for a Flit Switch at the end of the room. It's above the door. Use teh Fireball gauntlet (alone) to light the torches in the next area. In teh room with the colored floor panels, examine the flames on the wall. These flames reveal the order in which you must step on the panels: YELLOW, BLUE, YELLOW, RED, BLUE, RED, BLUE, RED. The Gold Key is just beyond the door.

Gold Key (Shifting Sands [Aurora], 1/1)

To get this Gold Key, first you need to have access to the Aurora continent. In the city, do the quest "A Key to a Greater Key." This quest became available to me after completing the main game. Talk to the guy who offers the quest near the tatooist and he'll sell you a key for 4,000 Gold. Once you have that key, there won't be a bread crumb trail telling you where to use it. Go to Shifting Sands and run across the vast dunes. On the far side, turn left and follow the cliff face until you find a little path down by some ruins. At the bottom, use the key given to you and you will unlock an area that contains the Gold Key. Step on the platforms to fight enemies and slowly make your way to the key.

Easter Eggs:
Big Blue Box Crate
Any time after you witness Reaver's cruelty outside of his main factory you'll have access to it's entrance. Directly to the left as you enter is a pile of boxes with a small opening around the side. Head around to the back of it and you'll find a small crate with the Big Blue Box logo (a development studio) on the sides of it.

Zelda Reference
At Mourningwood Cemetery, as you enter the cemetary form the fort, check the left side. In the front row, walk to the final grave stone. It reads "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this." Dig here to find a toy sword. this is similar to the beginning of The Legend of Zelda, where the old man gives you your first sword.

The East Hare Egg
There are three statues of men with telescopes in Millfields. Each of these statues has a name: Walter Coen, Jeffrey Coen and Theodore Coen. In the Millfield graveyard, up high on the hill before you reach the lake heading in from Bowerstone, there are three graves with these same names. They tell you when to shoot each statue:
  • Walter Coen // Stabbed in broad daylight - This statue is near the Demon Door. At noon, when the sun is high in the sky, smack this statue with your sword. The statue will flash and you'll hear a scream.
  • Jeffrey Coen // Burned at sunrise - This statue at the other end of the bridge that leads to the gazebo. As the sun rises, hit this statue with Fireball. The statue will flash and you'll hear a scream.
  • Theodore Coen // Shot in the dead of night - This one is near the graveyard. Shoot it with a firearm at midnight. The statue will flash and you'll hear a scream.

After this you should get a prompt to pull the RIGHT TRIGGER at the final statue. Do so and the East Hare Egg will appear in the gazebo. It does nothing, but is a cool, literal Easter Egg.

Fable 2 Gargoyle Reference
In Bowerstone Market, go under the main bridge to find a Dive Spot (where you found the Gargoyles Trove in Fable 2). Diving there will reveal a Royal Left Leg Tattoo and you'll hear a familiar laughter, as if there was a Gargoyle there from Fable 2.

Lionhead Logo
After accessing Driftwood via the bridge in in Millfield after (complete the side quest "Restoration" by paying 750 Gold), go to the end of the beach, then turn left to look at the tall structure. If you played Fable 2 you will know this as the Spire. Swim as far as you possibly can towards the Spire and look down into the water and there should be a Lionhead Logo in black at the bottom.

Portal's Companion Cube
Once you've become King/Queen, you get a royal quest where you have to go meet Page down in the old resistance HQ to go track down the local crime lord. Inside his hideout there is a door in a hallway that has a bunch of cells. Around some crates, there is a cell that has a Hobbe worshiping a wooden version of the beloved Constant Companion Cube.
